What effect does the environment have on humans?

Oxygen, although giving us the ability to breath, is actually a corrosive element that eventually wears us down. Radiation from the sun in the form of Ultra-Violet rays can damage our skin and cause cancer. The environment provides us the food we eat, the air we breath, the water we drink, the fuel we burn to heat our homes, the gasoline we use to fuel our vehicles, the minerals we use to build our structures and devices, the clothes we wear, and colors our perception of theology and reality.  Source - Wiki Answers

However,1.1 billion people  still  use unsafe water sources for drinking. Thel owest drinking water coverage rates are in sub-Saharan Africa (58 per cent) and in the Pacific (52 per cent), but the largest numbers of unserved people are in Asia.

 An average American  uses 100 to 175 gallons of water per day.

How the Average Person Uses Water Inside the Home (source:engr.uga.edu)

Toilet leakage 5.0%

Faucets 12.0%

Dish washers 3.0%

Washing Machines 22.0%

Showers 21.0%

Baths 9.0%

Some  DO'S to conserve water  and  pay attention to wastage of this precious resource, one person at a time, in every one of the areas of use above
 turn off the tap while brushing teeth;
turn off the tap while soaping your body during a shower;
turn off water running while washing dishes;
report water leaks  and leaky pipes, or water running endlessly down the toilet;

You will notice that the more water runs unchecked the more it runs away from us and can create shortages unnecessarily.

These behaviours concerning water conservation can protect the planet, if it is done by one person at a time, and keep water flowing to nurture ourselves and the planet.
